Membership Welcome Pack

LTOCA Welcome Pack 2023

This Welcome pack has been produced to encourage New Members and give them an insight to the association.

The London Transport Old Comrades Association amalgamated with the Armistice Association in the 1990’s to form the current Association.

The Association is non-sectarian and not affiliated to, or connected directly or indirectly, with any political party or political organisation.

The objects of the Association are to perpetuate the memory of those who made the supreme sacrifice in the service of their country and preserve the spirit of comradeship among all ex-service personnel.

Membership of the Association as a member is open to any employee, or ex-employee, on the payroll of Transport for London or its subsidiaries, and to personnel whose companies come under the TFL umbrella.

Those who wish to take part in the Parade, and march to the Cenotaph on Remembrance Sunday must demonstrate to the Committee that they are Staff working for, or have worked for, either London Buses and Bus Operators or London Underground either directly supplying the service or supporting in a maintenance function.  They must also have served with Her Majesty's Forces or Mercantile Marine.

To join the Association Service details must be given on the Application Form.

Members retiring from Transport for London’s service may continue to be a member.

The Officers of the Association are:
President, Vice President, Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary, Treasurer and 3 Examiners.

On the 1st or 2nd Friday of each May the association holds an AGM so that members can have their say in the running of the association and elect the Officers. Afterwards we hold a Marchers’ Lunch Sponsored by TfL as a thank you to all those who represented us at the Cenotaph on Remembrance Sunday.

During the week preceding Armistice Sunday the Association has the following Events:

On the Thursday we attend the Field of Remembrance at Westminster Abbey and lay 100 crosses with the names of those who fell during both world wars plus any member whom we have lost during the year

On the Friday Night we hold our Annual Dinner where we and our Guests get together to remember the fallen and have a good time in their memory.

Remembrance Sunday we attend at the TfL offices at Westminster City Hall where those who are going to march attend.  Our contingent has the honour of being allowed to March from our head office on to Whitehall via House Guards, we also have the honour of being able to lay our wreath at the Cenotaph.
